Do I Know You? : A Selection of Scenes and Short Plays

On July 10th, performances will begin for Do I Know You?, a selection of scenes and short plays at the Bridge Theater at Shetler Studios, featuring 8 talented actors from my classes.

Do I Know You? is a collection of stories about who you know and what you don’t; the decisions that make you who you are and make you question yourself. It’s a night full of both comedy and drama featuring pieces from the plays Wonder of the World by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, Reasons to be Pretty by Neil La Bute; and the short plays The Man Who Couldn’t Dance by Jason Katims, and Roger and Vanessa by Brett C. Leonard.

Wonder of the World features two women who meet on a bus ride to Niagara Falls; one woman starting a new chapter in her life, the other planning to end hers. It’s a hilarious meeting of two polar opposites at a crossroad in their lives.

Reasons to be Pretty finds us in a food court of a mall, following the recent break-up of Greg and Steph after Greg makes a particularly unkind comment about her. It’s a hilarious, sad, uncomfortable, and honest look at their relationship and getting a taste of your own medicine.

The Man Who Couldn’t Dance is a short play by Jason Katims. In this play, Gail introduces her ex Eric to her newborn daughter Elizabeth, and also to a life he could have had.

Roger and Vanessa is a fiery drama that takes place in the Brooklyn home of Vanessa and her husband Roger, who was recently released from prison. Their passionate and volatile relationship is tested throughout this short play as they are faced with a life changing decision and the weight of their own secrets.

Performances begin July 10th at 7:30pm in The Bridge Theater at Shetler Studios, 244 W.54th Street, 12th Floor. Tickets are $10 at the door. Hope to see you there!
