michael Luggio

Michael began his acting career in 1989 on the Off-Broadway stages of New York City and continued to develop his career in film and television. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work with some of the industry's most prominent actors and directors who were instrumental in shaping his acting, and now his work as a coach.  He has had the pleasure of friendships with Sydney Pollack, Sydney Lumet, and Harold Becker who have guided and educated him with his craft as an actor, and director throughout his career. Michael's friendships and mentorships with these directors were particularly influential on his philosophy towards teaching the actor: "Always respect the process and guide them with authenticity".

Michael believes that the strongest foundation for an actor is built with character development. By learning to utilize the actor's emotions, experiences, and senses within each character they play, each performance will be an honest one.

He continues to mentor and coach many of the industry's most respected actors on location, one-on-one, as well as in his classes. He works with both domestic and international actors, helping them achieve work and exposure. Students come from around the world to learn, discover, and sharpen their craft.

Michael taught acting and directed plays both in New York and Los Angeles at the Third Street Theatre, the Theatre for the New City, La Mama, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actors Playhouse, Center Stage Theatre, the Professional Method Actors Studio, The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Michael has been appointed to serve on the Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominating Committee. He is a member of N.A.S.T. (National Association of Schools of Theatre), as well as a volunteer Teacher & Lecturer for W!SE. (Working in support of Education) in the New York City Charter School Programs.

Lindsay Van Norman

Lindsay is a working actor and acting coach with over 10 years of working experience in NYC. She studied Musical Theater at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and gained experience in the regional and New York theater scene before transitioning into TV and Film. Having worked both in-front of and behind the camera, she brings that experience to her work in the studio.

As an actor herself, Lindsay understands the day to day work required to make moves in this industry. She doesn’t subscribe to any one acting style, rather helping each actor learn what techniques work best for them and learning how to best apply those to each scene for the most honest performance possible. Lindsay understands that acting is both an art and a business, and helps each actor in her classes understand how to use their unique skills to their advantage and take the next steps in their careers.

Lindsay has worked and studied with Michael Luggio for 9 years and is also an accomplished headshot photographer and videographer. Proud member of AEA  lindsayvannorman.com
