Stonewall Era Drama Comes to NYC

This past January, Michael directed A Hard Rain, a new play written by playwrights Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper. This was the US Debut of A Hard Rain, after premiering in early 2014 at the Above the Stag Theater in London to great reviews. It tells the story of a group of New Yorkers struggling with their identities and societal oppression in the late 60's on the brink of the Stonewall riots. A relevant story with relatable characters, this play truly illustrates what it is to discover yourself and your values in New York City. Following a homosexual Vietnam Vet and his relationships with his friends, lovers, and acquaintances, we see his struggle to come to terms with what it is to 'be'.

It's the sweltering hot summer of 1969. Cross-dressing, quick-tempered "Ruby" has been kicked out of the military after a year in Vietnam. With no prospects, he winds up in high heels and a rage in Mafia-run gay bar in Greenwich Village, where he meets Jimmy: the smart-talking, vulnerable street kid who will change his world and send him on the road to activism.

We are proud to present this new work at the Theater for the New City in NYC. Performances begin January 6th and run until January 25th. Don't miss this chance to see a truly entertaining piece of theater and a wonderful take on a historic time in the city.
